About
I’m Mia Wexford, an Australian IT professional passionate about cybersecurity, privacy, and VPN technology. My journey in IT began at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I studied Information Technology with a focus on networks and security. While my degree gave me the technical foundation, it was hands-on experience that truly shaped my expertise.
Over the past fifteen years, I’ve worked across multiple roles in IT security:
2008–2012: As a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a major Australian telecommunications company, I gained a deep understanding of ISP operations, data management, and the challenges of securing large-scale networks.
2012–2016: I worked as an IT Security Consultant for small and medium businesses in Melbourne, designing and implementing security solutions, performing vulnerability assessments, and training staff to maintain robust cybersecurity practices.
2016–Present: I operate independently as a Security Consultant and Educator, focusing on VPN technologies and privacy solutions for individuals and families. My work includes consultations, security audits, content creation, and ongoing research into emerging digital threats.
Beyond technical work, I am actively involved in privacy advocacy in Australia. I have contributed to public consultations on data retention policies, participated in cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-focused organisations to promote digital rights and safe online practices.
My mission is to make online privacy accessible and practical for everyone. Through my work, I aim to empower people to take control of their digital security, navigate the internet safely, and stay informed in an ever-evolving online world.
